I have the ability to interpret art through – let’s call it “intuition” to spare us from a lengthy explanation. Today I choose the song “Love Profusion” by Madonna. During my Kundalini awakening I connected with the video and lyrics in a very personal way, allowing me to interpret the symbols in the video and lyrics. Below you will find full lyrics – interlaced with interpretations. The video below holds the imagery I refer to within the deciphered lyrics.
First we get Madonna’s views on the world as she understands it from her experience.
There are too many questions, There is not one solution. There is no resurrection (remember this for later in the song) There is so much confusion
The Chorus:
Madonna is referring to the “Love Vibration”. As spiritual beings in physical bodies we can and do raise and lower in vibration. Chronic low vibration leads to depression and illness, chronic high vibration can lead to “mania” and confusion- OR if you have refined your Ego, constant high vibration is a sign of enlightenment. Most of us fall into the group of shifting vibrations- some days good, others not so good. Madonna is trying to tell us that SHE changes her vibration by getting in touch with the “Love Vibration”.
And the love profusion, You make me feel, You make me know
And the love vibration, You make me feel, You make it shine
Back in Dreary mundane materialistic world- in which I am sure Madonna gets her fair share of… She throws off the shackles of materialism by loosing her illusions, and wanting answers! Most of us know Madonna was studying with spiritual masters before she wrote this song.
There are too many options, There is no consolation
I have lost my illusions, What I want is an explanation
Madonna is expressing how Love makes her feel and what effect it has on her. She is not referring to romantic love or the love for another human- this is divine love as it manifests in her awareness.
And the love profusion, You make me feel
You make me know, And the love direction
You make me feel, You make me shine
You make me feel, You make me shine
You make me feel, I got you under my skin
Below again Madonna is expressing her doubts and fears about the world, feeling the real pain as she is empathic to the suffering of others. She wants a Celebration- just like she sang to us back in the 1980’s “Celebrate, Holiday” if we took a holiday (from the GAME) everyone in every nation.. yeah She wanted the Party to start early. I am referring to a philosophy that seems a new concept- the Concept that Life is a GAME and we are players upon the stage. Madonna knows this as well as anyone.
There is no comprehension, There is real isolation
There is so much destruction, What I want is a celebration
Here again Madonna is telling us she knows how to shift her “bad mood” to a good one by feeling or tuning into the Love.
And I know I can feel bad, When I get in a bad mood
And the world can look so sad, Only you make me feel good
About 1 min 26 secs into the video we see Doves flying as Madonna sings- I got you under my skin.
In an esoteric way the Dove is the symbol for peace- inner peace in this case. However I know Madonna has a mad love for Jesus (remember her Like a Prayer video?)- she is expressing that she has Jesus under her skin.
The interesting part for me is that it sounds like Madonna sings “I got TWO under my skin, I got TWO under my skin.” At first it is a whisper and she sings it louder. I can identify with having TWO under my skin as well. Part of us is Divine and part of us is “Human”- or Ego. Personality = Ego/Character Divine= God Within. “There is No Resurrection”- Meaning, we are all meant to act and be like “Jesus” or an anointed or enlightened one- we are ALL the resurrection, at least we all have the potential to achieve. In Buddhism we greet each other by saying “Namaste” which roughly translates to- The God in me recognizes the God in you.
I think Madonna is saying- Yes this world is in a sorry state, we all have to deal with that. Yet we have ways of dealing with it by REMEMBERING our DIVINITY.
